Songkran 2018 – Bangkok
14 April 2018
Yesterday in Bangkok, I was told Songkran started as a simple Annual Family Tradition to remove and wash the family’s home Buddha. The Patriarch (oldest Male member) would remove the dust (powder) and smear it on the faces of all the family members present. With the water used to cleanse their Buddha they would pour it gently on each other. Now move forward to 2018…
In my experience, Thais NEVER pass up the opportunity at having a good time! So the Modern Day Songkran, as celebrated in downtown Bankgok, is nothing more than a HUGE water gun assault and a Helluva good time!!!
Yesterday an associate and I spent the better part of the day down one of the busiest streets in Bangkok, Silom Road, that was closed off so Festival participants could enjoy the fun! It was a memory I will never forget.
Sut Yacht (Awesome in Thai)!
